Let It Go: Act 3

You know what I love about professional wrestling?  Quite literally anything can happen.  You have to be prepared because you never know when someone is going to step up and throw a monkey wrench into everyone’s plans.

Case in point, I’m sure Monarchy was hoping that Mr. D would just cave in and hand Kelcey Wallace the SCW World Championship.  Too bad it didn’t happen that way.  I’m sure Ravyn Taylor was hoping that Mr. D would just cave in and give her the title but, just like with Monarchy, he’s not going  to just give away anything.

You don’t get a championship by throwing a temper tantrum over social media and acting immature about how management supposedly is screwing you out of a title.  It may be true, it may not be true, it really is irrelevant because no amount of whining will get you what you want.  You have to go out there and earn it.

Things have now changed in a big way.   No longer is it a case of will Ravyn or Kelcey be champion.  Now anyone in SCW could end up leaving Apocalypse as the new SCW World Champion.  Anyone from the male battle royal, the women’s battle royal, the women’s title match, the tag title match, or anyone from any match at all could end up leaving with the gold.

A lottery ticket is right there ready to be cashed in by someone.

What I am about to tell each and every one of you, though, is that you had better watch out and be careful of two of the very best to have set foot in SCW this year.  My sister Angelica and my niece Jessica.

Winning is in their blood.  It’s what they know.  They are driven by success and competition.   You don’t get much more competitive than a night in which literally anyone could leave with the big gold.

So take my advice and watch out, watch out for The Dragon and The Morning Star, or ignore my advice and get burned.  It’s up to you.  Either way, the smart money is on The Sisterhood walking out with their heads held high and the gold in their possession.

Let It Go
Act 3

==========

Factions and tag teams in the sport of kings (and queens) will come and go due to pride and arrogance.  One person will get a big head, think they can make it on their own, they will begin to believe their own hype, and then they will leave their tag partner abandoned.  Others are ignorant and naïve, easily led astray by the conniving plans of an outsider, and will thus betray their tag team partner upon seeing what they believe to be the lure of something bigger and better.

This past Breakdown saw Angelica Jones and her sister Kayla, otherwise known as The Sisterhood, go toe to toe with one of the groups currently residing within Supreme Championship Wrestling: Dawn Lohan and Kordy Price, Blood Grove.  Lohan and Price may have fought The Sisterhood to a standstill on that night and, thus far, they may have shown surprisingly strong unity, but someone like Angelica Jones, someone who has well over twelve years of experience in the wrestling business, she will claim that she can see past Blood Grove’s unity.  She doesn’t see a strongly united force within Blood Grove.  She sees two wild cards willing to do whatever it takes to make sure their career skyrockets and then a third wild card named Kordy Price who is so naïve that she will blindly anyone like a good and stupid sheep, a sheep who could easily be led astray and convinced to betray Blood Grove for the next big thing, the next fad.  That is, after all, the way Angelica views Blood Grove.  It’s just a fad.  It is a passing fad that will fade away as quickly as its members decided it was cool to join.

The Sisterhood has always prided itself upon its strong unity.  Angelica Jones and her sister Kayla, and by extension Angelica’s daughter Jessica Lasiewicz, they have always had each other’s backs.  No matter what the situation, they would always be there for each other.  No matter the odds, they would always go to war on behalf of the other.  Family has always come first when it came to The Sisterhood and personal gain was always secondary.

This is why Angelica Jones abandoned Silas Mason and Silas World.  Silas never did Angelica wrong.  Angelica really and truly had no reason to hate him except for the fact that he began to target Kayla and Jessica.  When that happened all bets were off.  When that happened, Angelica knew she would have to make a choice and she knew her choice would be an easy one; family comes before Silas World.

Even at the next SCW pay per view, Apocalypse, Angelica Jones is certain that The Sisterhood can manage to maintain its unity, despite the fact that both her and her daughter Jessica Lasiewicz are competing in the same women’s battle royal with a great deal on the line: the opportunity to go to the main event later on in the evening to compete for the vacant SCW World Heavyweight Championship.

It would be Angelica’s first opportunity at the SCW World Championship if she manages to qualify, if she manages to win the battle royal.  At the same time she understands that her daughter Jessica wants this just as badly as she does, perhaps even more-so due to the fact that Jessica’s career is still in its early stages and Angelica has already been around the block several times in her twelve-plus year career in professional wrestling.

Angelica cannot guarantee who will win the women’s battle royal, but what she can say with some certainty is that the winner will be either her or Jessica.  She and her daughter can and will work together, eliminate everyone else, and then when the smoke has cleared, they can have a competitive match to see which of them gets to move on to the main event.  Being competitive with one another is something that The Sisterhood has no problems with.  The key word, though, is “competitive.”  Angelica, Kayla, and Jessica will never fight for petty reasons such as jealousy or revenge.

And yet despite this strong unity that The Sisterhood has shown over the years, over the course of all of their careers, while no outside force or outside influence has ever managed to separate The Sisterhood, one has to wonder what would happen if an internal influence, a member of the Jones family itself, ever managed to drive him or herself in between the family, almost like a wedge?

Two names immediately come to mind: Bart Jones and his granddaughter Marie Annabelle Jones.

Bart Jones is Angelica’s father and Marie Annabelle Jones is Angelica’s oldest daughter.  Both of them are estranged from the Jones family but for different reasons.  Marie estranged herself from the family due to the fact that she has, thus far, remained loyal to Silas Mason, despite his downfall in SCW.  Marie did not care that Silas tried to break Kayla’s neck and that he tried to do the same to Jessica.  Marie has been looking out for herself and herself alone.

Marie’s grandfather is a different story.  He did screw things up with his family when he abandoned Angelica and Kayla when they were just teenagers.  The former FBI agent has tried to make things right between himself and his daughters in their adult years but they will have none of it.  At least Kayla won’t.  Angelica has been willing to listen to an extent but even she will tune him out when Kayla is around.  Kayla has a great influence upon Angelica, greater than she would like to admit.

Currently we find the matriarch of the Jones family and eldest member of The Sisterhood, Angelica Jones, sitting upon her king-sized bed in her bedroom of her Boston, Massachusetts home.

The room contains cheerful, bold walls with a darkish pink on the bottom half with light sky blue on top.  The floor is grey, worn down carpet that's old and thin.  A big rectangular window is directly across from the door, giving a view of the trees outside in the front yard. The opposite corner stands two sets of clear plastic drawer, accented with green. Next to the drawers is a light colored wooden bookshelf with three shelves. It’s filled with books, with more books that can't fit laying in front. The books are well cared for, but worn and obviously well read.  These books are a part of the Carter family library, books owned by Lindsey Carter, Angelica’s wife, who is still missing.

Angelica herself sits upon the bed, her knees pulled up to her chest, she has two photos with her, one in each hand.  In her right hand is a photograph of her with her daughters Marie and Jessica as well as Angelica’s sister Kayla.  In the left hand is a picture of Angelica and Kayla when they were twelve and eleven respectively, a photograph of them with their father Bart Jones.  An infinite number of thoughts run through her head as she looks at these photographs.

One the one hand Bart Jones is her father and yes, he did wrong, but Angelica knows that she has done wrong as well and she needed forgiveness.  Why can’t she forgive Bart?  Then on the other hand there is her sister Kayla, whom she has a great deal of loyalty for, and if Kayla cannot forgive him, if she will not forgive him, then does that put Angelica into a position where she will have to choose?

At the same time there is also the situation regarding her eldest child, Marie Annabelle Jones.  Jessica and Kayla would just assume Angelica forget about Marie.  Leave her to her own devices.  But Angelica feels she cannot do that.

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!

The knocking at her bedroom door startles Angelica right out of her silent musings and right back into reality.  The red-head immediately sighs as she turns her attention towards the door, expecting anyone from her father to her sister to be standing there waiting.

“Come in…”

Angelica’s bedroom door slowly creaks open.  Angelica is somewhat surprised to see who it was that did come to see her.  Dressed in a knee length black skirt, black sheer pantyhose, black high heeled pumps, a long sleeved red sweater, and with her long red hair left to hang unrestrained to shoulder length is her daughter, Marie Annabelle Jones.

Seeing Marie show up here is a surprise for Angelica.  Her eldest child has a key to the house, so getting in wasn’t the surprise.  It’s just her being here at all that is the biggest surprise.  Angelica and Marie used to be members of Silas World together.  Hell, Angelica was the one who convinced Marie to sign with Silas Mason.  Things changed when Silas began targeting Kayla Jones and Jessica Lasiewicz, and Marie and Angelica were faced with the same decision: remain loyal to Silas or remain loyal to the family.

Angelica chose to be loyal to the family, Marie chose to be loyal to Silas Mason.

Ever since that pivotal point, Marie and Angelica have had few interactions with one another, as Marie viewed her mother as a “traitor” if you will.  Marie even took it upon herself to take up the name “The Greatest Jones Ever” just as a shot at Angelica. Thus, seeing Marie come here today or any day for that matter is a surprise.

“Oh, hi Marie,” Angelica says quietly, trying to regain her composure after being startled “I wasn’t expecting you.”

“I can understand.” Marie says with a faint grin on her face. “We haven’t exactly seen eye to eye, lately.”

“No, we haven’t.”

Angelica scoots over to the edge of the bed and swings her legs over to where she is now in a seat position with her feet touching the floor.  She motions for Marie to come over.  The child does so, walking over and finding a spot next to her mother on the bed.

“Is it fair to say that you want something from me?” Angelica asks plainly.  Marie, though, shakes her head.

“No, I’m not here because I just want something.”

Angelica arches her brow. “Really?”

“Really.  But I can say I’m not here just on a social call.  I am doing someone a favor.”

“In other words someone asked you to come and see me?”

The ginger nods her head. “Yes.”

Angelica tilts her head to one side as she ponder the list of possible suspects.

“It wouldn’t be Jessica, she’s distracted at the moment.”

Marie chuckles. “Distracted is putting it mildly.”

“It also wouldn’t be Kayla.  She…”

“She would rather see you forget about me.” Marie sighs. “I know.”

“Ok then, if it isn’t Jessica or Kayla,” she looks up into Marie’s eyes “then it has to be him…Bart…”

Marie nods her head. “My grandfather, yes.”

Hearing that it was Bart Jones’s idea for Marie and Angelica to come together and speak like this is another surprise.  Angelica knew that Bart had been getting around lately.  She knew he had been visiting her frequently, trying to talk to her and trying to make things right between him and her daughters.  But she didn’t realize he was also visiting Marie as well.

He does, of course, have every right to go see Marie.  She is, after all, his granddaughter. But this does raise another question for Angelica to consider.  Is he going to see Jessica as well?  If so, what is he saying to her?

“Obviously you were kinder to him than me and Kayla were.” Angelica states in a halfway sarcastic tone. “Otherwise you would have kicked his ass out without even listening to what he had to say.”

“He hasn’t done anything terrible to me.” Marie states plainly. “Why should I treat him bad?  Why should I abandon him?”

“Why?”  Angelica shoots up off of the bed, standing up full length on her feet. “Why?!”

She stares down at her daughter. “He abandoned me and your aunt Kayla, but more importantly he abandoned your aunt Kayla to the hands of a foster-father who ended up beating her and molesting her daily.  That’s why a jackass like him should be outcast from this family!”

“Oh and you’re one to judge?” Marie stands up, getting in her mother’s face. “I remember back in the day you would leave your enemies crippled for no other reason than the fact that they simply got in your way.  I remember the days you did whatever it took to get ahead and to win.”

The younger Jones shakes her head. “Do NOT act all high and mighty, mother, because the fact is that you are no saint.  You are no hero.  Do you even remember WHY  you and I haven’t spoken in  a long time?”

“Of course I do,” Angelica begins quietly, somewhat taken aback that her daughter stood up to her “Silas Mason…”

“Right, we split over Silas Mason.” Marie chuckles lightly. “Imagine that?  Mother and daughter break up over a guy…”

Angelica smirks. “It happens more often than you think.”

“The fact is that we split because of our differing opinions over Silas.  I’m still loyal to him while you helped with his downfall in SCW.”

“And I still don’t like the fact that you are running around with him in IWC.” Angelica growls under her breath.

“I know, but there is one fact you tend to forget.”  She reaches out and touches her mother on the tip of her nose. “You convinced me to sign with Silas Mason in the first place.”

The elder Jones sighs before lowering her head in shame. “I…” her voice trails off.

“What?”

“I…only did what I thought was right…”

Tears form in Angelica’s eyes.  It isn’t long before they are flowing freely.  Marie opens her arms and takes her mother into a tight, comforting hug.

“It’s ok, mom.  Really, it’s ok.”

“I only did what I thought was right…”

Marie breaks the hug and stares at her mother. “And that is exactly what my grandfather thought he was doing when he gave you and aunt Kayla up to social services.  He only did what he thought was right.  But was he right?”

The ginger shakes her head. “Clearly not, but he has been trying to get you and Kayla to forgive him for what he did.  He is trying to make up for what he did.  Now tell me this, mom…have you ever sought forgiveness for the misdeeds you have done?”

Angelica nods her head. “Yeah…”

“That’s my point.” Marie answers back. “And…and…”

“What?”

“….I know I have done wrong to you, mom.  I realize that I have wronged so many people.  And just like grandfather, just like you, I want to try and make things right.  And I want to start making things right between you and me.”

Angelica’s tears now go from tears of sorrow to tears of joy as they continue to flow down her cheek.  She has no idea what Bart said to her daughter but he must have said something strong and impactful to make Marie want to do this, to come here and reconcile with Angelica.

“Marie…I am your mother and I will always love you no matter what.  Of course I forgive you.  But you do understand that it will take a long time before everyone else can begin to feel that way.”

Marie nods her head. “I know…but this is a good start...and I think we both should forgive Bart.  We would be hypocrites if we didn’t.”

“I agree…we do have to forgive him.  But this isn’t a good start, not yet anyway.  We cannot start something new until certain loose ends are tied up.”

“What loose ends?”

“There is still one person who needs to let go of this grudge and of the past, one person who needs to let it go.  My sister, your aunt Kayla.”

Opportunity.

That one, simple word is a very powerful word because opportunity entails a chance, albeit a small one, given to a group of men and women to potentially achieve something great.

I have been given opportunities in The Triad, specifically within the Independent Wrestling Cartel.  Silas Mason gave me opportunities in IWC and I took full advantage of them, winning tag team gold and becoming number one contender to the world title.  That’s what Silas Mason and I did with opportunity.

Mr. D in SCW has now given a bunch of competitors on the SCW roster an opportunity to make a major league impact in a very short amount of time.  In just one night someone could go from a minor player on the roster to the SCW World Heavyweight Champion.

That’s what opportunity can do for one person on the roster.  One of the individuals who will get that opportunity is my mother, Angelica Jones.

My mother has always been the ultimate opportunist in professional wrestling.  My mother, throughout her entire career, has taken every opportunity given to her and has used it for her advantage to catapult herself to the top of the mountain.

You do not need to give Angelica Jones many chances.  Hell, usually you don’t even need to give her any more chances than just one.  One chance is enough and this women’s battle royal will be the one opportunity she needs.   She will mow through those other lame ass women and move on the main event where she will become world champion.

It’s as simple as that.

The scene is a blue screen.  Nothing more.  Nothing less.  Very simplistic, which is rather confusing to the wrestling viewer who might expect something different from one of the more famous wrestlers in the business.  It isn’t long until Angelica Jones steps into view from stage right, wearing a black pantsuit with a matching black blazer, white button up silk blouse, and black high heeled pumps.  Her long naturally red hair (yes, she’s gone back to its natural color) hangs unrestrained to shoulder length.  A pair of sunglasses covers her eyes. She steps to about the center of the blue screen, turns to face the camera and smirks.

“SCW Apocalypse is on the horizon and I racked my brain for quite some time about what to say.  I really wasn’t sure, to be honest.  Should I shoot the promo inside of or in front of the Consol Energy Center and give some lecture about the arena’s history, or maybe even give a talk about the history of Pittsburg?  Perhaps I could talk about how dominating the Pittsburg Steelers were back in the day and how I will try to be just as dominant at Apocalypse.”

Angelica shakes her head. “No, that won’t work.  Since the pay per view is called Apocalypse, I could shoot this in front of an image of death and destruction, could I talk about fire and brimstone and how this coming SCW pay per view truly will be reminiscent of the end of days that it was named after?”

The red-head shrugs her shoulders. “I could, or I could talk about the true meaning and origin of the word Apocalypse and how its actual meaning has nothing to do with the end of the world.  I could tell you about how it just means a revelation or an unveiling.  And that would be an appropriate thing to discuss, and an appropriate title for an SCW pay per view, because a new SCW World Heavyweight Champion will be unveiled.”

“I mean, I could do all of that, but I won’t.” She shakes her head. “Instead of doing all of that fancy talk, I’m just going to keep things as simple as possible, as illustrated by my lack of background today.  There is no need for a cutesy background that’s supposed to be symbolic of some bullshit hidden meaning.  I am just going to tell you precisely and exactly what I am going to do at Apocalypse.”

She removes her sunglasses and places them within a pocket inside of her blazer.  The eyes of the self-proclaimed Dragon of professional wrestling are full of a fire and intensity that she has not had in quite some time.

“My name is Angelica Jones.  If you see me outside the ring, I can be as nice and friendly a person as you w ill ever meet.  But once I step in through those ropes and into the squared circle, once the bell rings, I am something entirely different.  Some have called me Firestar, others The Golden Goddess, but right now you aren’t facing a Firestar or a Golden Goddess…you are facing The Dragon, a dragon that is hungry and anxious to devour any of the nine competitors who may get in its way at Apocalypse.”

“Katie Steward, you have been such a pain in the ass, sweetheart.  First you tried to take out my sister, then you tried to take out my daughter, and then you DID take out my friend Sienna Swann.  You really are not ingratiating yourself to me.   Quite honestly, you’ve been pissing me off and you’ve been lucky that Mr. D hasn’t put me into a position where I can get my hands on you…”

A sinister laugh escapes her lips “…but that changes at Apocalypse.  We’ll be sharing the same ring, won’t we?  You against me.  Yes, there will be other women in the battle royal, but you and I will be there as well and it will be my opportunity to wring your neck, to choke the life out of you, and to do anything I choose, and all of it would be completely and utterly legal.”

“You are no Goddess, Katie.” Angelica shakes her head. “You are a spoiled little bitch whose number is up.”

“Joanna Jane Tarzanna…why the hell are you even here?  You and Brandy Danielle are cut from the same cloth.   One has little talent, the other has little talent AND does nothing but cause problems anywhere she goes.  So again, I ask, why the hell are either of you even here?”

She shrugs her shoulders. “I don’t know.  What I do know is that this women’s battle royal is finally shaking up things in SCW when it comes to our women wrestlers and quite frankly it couldn’t have come any sooner.  If I had to watch Christy Matthews and Autumn Valentine in women’s matches more time my head was going to explode.  Not faulting them.  I mean, it isn’t their fault that they were among the few willing to support the women’s division.”

“But now Christy, Autumn, you have some competition, stiff competition, and if you think you can make it through this battle royal and into the world title match then you are sadly mistaken.  The road to the main event goes through me.”

“Nicole, you and Kordy seem perfect for each other, but I agree with you, Kordy is not right in the head.  Let’s be completely fair here, this idiot is happy to prance around and call that bloodthirsty psychopath Red Rayne “mommy.”  So no, Kordy is NOT right in the head.  Neither is Dawn Lohan for that matter.  Kordy is dumb enough for being naïve and willing to trust someone like Red, but Dawn should know better. She’s been betrayed more times than Bill Clinton got blowjobs in the White House and yet after each new partnership she always keeps telling herself that surely these people won’t betray me.  Surely Red won’t betray you.”

Angelica shakes her head.  “No, Kordy won’t betray her.  Kordy is too stupid to work out how to betray her even if she wanted to.  But Red would in a heartbeat.”

She points a finger into the camera. “That brings me to Harmony Fisher and Jessica Lasiewicz.  I will start with you, Harmony, because we have been through a lot together.  We went through Silas World together and we survived.  We helped bring down the biggest jackass in professional wrestling at Rise to Greatness.  We were great partners and  we can be great partners again in the future.”

“But not now.  Apocalypse and this battle royal is every woman for herself and if it comes down to it, I won’t hesitate to put you out of my way.  Same goes for you, Jessie…”

Angelica sighs, clearly this is difficult for her “…you are my daughter and I love you.  I know how good you are because I know who trained you.  You were trained by my cousin, the hall of fame wrestler Glory Braddock.  I know how good you are because you not only have my blood flowing through your veins but you also have the blood of Andreas Lasiewicz flowing through your veins.  I can honestly tell you that it would make me so proud to see you standing tall at the end of the night with the SCW World Championship.”

Jones holds up ten fingers. “Unfortunately there are ten of us in this match…”

She lowers nine of her fingers, leaving her right index finger still up “…and there can only be one winner.  Only one individual can advance to the world title match at the end of the night.  Now Jessie, I know you and if you are anything like me and like your father then I know you would not want me to hold back.”

Jones shuts her eyes and chuckles lightly. “I remember one time that circumstances made it where you DID have to wrestle your father.  He wanted to hold back, oh did he ever want to hold back, but you made him promise not to hold back.  You wanted to test yourself against him.  Do you remember what happened that night you two finally wrestled?”

“He won.  He defeated you in a closely fought match.  And now I know you don’t want me to hold back, so I won’t hold back.  I don’t want you to hold back either.  Give me everything you got.  Throw The Morning Star right at me, Jessica.  You will need that and then some and I can tell you right now that it still won’t change the outcome. You will lose to me, just like you lost to your father.  You are good, but you are not Angelica Jones.”

“The same goes for everyone else.  None of you are Angelica Jones Level.  And it will be me who wins that battle royal...”

Angelica Jones uses her thumb on her right hand to point to herself “…me!  I had motivation enough to win this battle royal just because of my competitive nature.  Competing and winning is in my blood.  But now that Mr. D has added the extra incentive of the world championship into the mix, well you can be damn sure that I will do anything and everything within my power to mow through all ten of you en route to the world title match.”

She begins to make a motion with both hands as if she is climbing a ladder. “Then I shall climb, rung by damn rung, and take that championship into my possession!  And then your world champion, just as the Apocalypse name entails, will truly be unveiled when I am announced as the new SCW World Heavyweight Champion!”
