Shot of Adrenaline

==========

“So is this it?”

Her sister’s question echoes loudly within the ears and mind of Angelica Jones as they sit on a bench against the wall in their dressing room backstage after the SCW pay per view.  The sisters contemplate their future following the loss of the SCW World Tag Team Championships at Final Level.  Granted, it could have been worse.  They could have lost the belts to Jake Starr and James Evans.  That didn’t happen.  Instead the team that walked out with the gold was Autumn Valentine and Gable Winchester.  Angelica and Kayla can live with that.  Nevertheless, losing the championships stings.  It always stings.  This is different.  Angelica and Kayla had reunited The Sisterhood and they had immediate impact, winning tag team gold in two separate companies.  But now they lost both sets of tag titles.  There is nothing to hold them together except their sisterly bond.

And Kayla’s actions recently have not gone unnoticed by Angelica Jones.  The younger sister within The Sisterhood team has begun to go out on her own seeking her own individual success.  She has openly stated that she wants to pursue another world championship and, at the same time, she is also pursuing a career as a manager of other wrestlers.  The only thing that held them together was the SCW World Tag Team Championships but now, after tonight’s loss, that is gone.  There is no reason Kayla should continue working with her.

And this question from Kayla’s own mouth doesn’t make things any better.

“Huh?” Angelica asks, feigning as if she didn’t hear her younger sister.

“You heard me.” Kayla retorts. “Is this it?  We lost the tag gold.  Are we now going our separate ways?”

Angelica shrugs her shoulders. “I don’t know, Kay.  Should we?”

“You tell me.” Kayla snaps back, not in an angry tone but definitely in a quick, short tone of voice that lets her sister know she means business. “I mean, you are scheduled to be in the Shot of Adrenaline Tournament.  Not me.”

Angelica frowns.  Kayla is, of course, referring to the Shot of Adrenaline Tournament, a yearly tournament held by Supreme Championship Wrestling.  Angelica Jones was in last year’s Shot of Adrenaline Tournament and made it to the semi-finals along with Dawn Lohan, Red Rayne, and Selena Frost.  The last few months Angelica Jones has spent with Kayla Jones in The Sisterhood, competing in the tag team division and eventually defending the titles until losing them tonight.  And yet sometime along the way she must have convinced someone in SCW management that she deserved another shot at a successful singles career in SCW, for she has been entered in this prestigious tournament.

Angelica never asked for this opportunity.  The truth is, she knows that her time in a wrestling ring is drawing to a close.  She knows she doesn’t have that many years left before she will have to retire.  Seeing David Helms compete in his last match tonight forced her to think about those prospects much more.  Angelica has a family to think about, three daughters, a grandchild.  Plus she has done virtually everything there is to do.  She has been happy with her career.  What she wanted was to dominate the sport with her sister one last time.  She did that, didn’t she?

“Kay, look…” Angelica’s voice trails off as she tries to find the right words “…I didn’t ask for this.”

Her eyes narrow as a newfound intensity comes to the forefront. “But if you’re asking me to back out or back down then think again.  I never back down from any challenge, Kay.  You should know this better than anyone else.  I am a competitor first and foremost and there is no way in hell I am going to stop striving to be the best.”

“What about The Sisterhood?” Kayla asks inquisitively. “Is The Shot of Adrenaline more important than what you and I have?”

Angelica immediately stands up, shooting quickly off the bench.  Kayla, noticing the anger that seems to seep from every orifice of her sister’s body, stands up as well, but braces herself at the same time, for the possible verbally onslaught that may come.

“How dare you ask me that question?!”

“What do you mean?” Kayla asks, feigning innocence. “It is a legitimate question.”

“Legitimate?” Angelica points an accusatory finger at Kayla. “How about you look into the mirror?”

Kayla tilts her head to one side and frowns. “What do you mean?”

The elder Jones rolls her eyes. “You really want me to do this?”

“Yeah…” Kayla’s voice trails off “…do it.”

“Fine.” She holds up one finger. “First there is your constant talk about winning your next world title.”

Kayla shrugs her shoulders. “Yes, and so what?  Who wouldn’t want a world title?”

Angelica holds up two fingers. “And of course you have Jones Wrestling Incorporated.  You started your own managerial service, Kay, and you have not involved me in that.”

Kayla nods her head. “Yes, fair enough.”

“So how the hell can you stand there and accuse me of ignoring The Sisterhood when you are also branching out on your own, looking out for your own interests?”

There is a long tense moment as the sisters stare one another down.  This isn’t the first time they have had an argument, nor will it be the last, but it has been quite a long time since they have had an argument.  Neither sister expected this.  Anything could happen.  And yet…

…a chuckle escapes Angelica’s lips. Then Kayla starts laughing.  Eventually both of them are laughing out loud.  Then they embrace in a big hug.  After breaking the embrace it is Angelica who breaks the silence.

“I’m sorry for lashing out at you, Kay.”

“No, no, it’s ok.  I should apologize to you for accusing you of trying to get away from The Sisterhood.  I mean, it isn’t like you had a choice here. You were, for all intents and purposes, drafted into this damn tournament.”

Angelica nods her head. “True…”

“I still hate it though.” Kayla muses out loud.

“Me too, but Kayla, things change.  The situation changes.  And honestly, I believe our situation has changed.”

“Obviously.”

“Think about it, we have dominated tag team wrestling over this past year.  We have ruled atop several companies together as The Sisterhood, but perhaps there are other ways The Sisterhood can dominate this business?”

Angelica places a hand on Kayla’s shoulder. “You are the manager of champions.  And you could become a champion again yourself.  As for me, I have Shot of Adrenaline.  Think about what happens if I win it all.  Think of the doors that would open just by winning that tournament.  We have the name, Kay, the Jones name is wrestling royalty, but maybe it’s time to remind the wrestling world why we are wrestling royalty.  And The Shot of Adrenaline Tournament is my way of doing just that.”

“So your mind is focused?” Kayla asks.

“Yes, definitely.”

Kayla looks on skeptically. “Are you sure?”

“Of course I am.” Angelica insists. “This is my chance to shoot myself back to the top of SCW.  Of course I will be focused and ready.  What else could possibly have my attention or focus?”

“Jack.”

Angelica looks on curiously. “Jack who?”

“Seriously?!” Kayla asks in an exclamatory manner. “You have got to be kidding me, sis!”

“Uh,” Angelica shakes her head “no, not kidding.  Sorry.”

“Jack…Jack the guy I caught you sleeping with the other night.”

Angelica pauses again to think it over.  Finally a look of realization crosses her face and she nods her head.

“Oh yeah!  Jack!”

“Right, Jack…what about him?  Is he on your mind?”

Angelica shakes her head. “No, he was just a one night stand.”

Kayla sighs deeply and slaps her forehead. “Angelica…”

“What?”

“What about Lindsey?” Kayla asks, looking back up at her sister.

“What about her?”

“She’s your wife!” Kayla exclaims. “Aren’t you and Lindsey trying to work things out with one another?  Aren’t you trying to fix your marriage?”

“Yes…”

“Then why the games?  Why the one night stand with Jack?  Angelica, if you are going to continue sleeping around with random guys, then just break up with Lindsey, if you’re serious about saving your marriage, then save it, but don’t lead her along.  She deserves an answer.”

Angelica sighs. “It isn’t that simple.”

“Why not?” Kayla asks, placing her hands on her hips.

“You don’t understand.  I have had so many relationships with so many guys that I thought were the one…the perfect guy…my handsome prince…but all of them turned out to be nothing.  I am afraid of commitment.  I want to be sure that this is right.”

Kayla frowns. “I don’t understand?  I was married to Jason Redfield.  I dated Andreas Lasiewicz.”

“Fine…you got me there…”

Kayla places her hands on Angelica’s shoulders. “Point is, I know the emotional roller coaster you’re going through.  I know it’s rough.  But I also know that your current wife deserves an answer eventually.”

“I know and you’re right, Lindsey does deserve an answer.  I just have no idea what I will say to her next time I see her.”

Kayla smirks. “But first you have to actually see her, right?”

Angelica chuckles. “Right.”

We open in a large living room area.  There is a cream colored couch and two small brown tables on either side, by the arms of the chair.  Two small plants sit on each of the small brown tables.  The sofa itself is a golden color and appears to be quite comfortable.

The sound of heels again a marble floor can be heard off in the distance.  The clicking sound grows slightly louder.  Eventually we see Angelica Jones stepping into view, wearing a classic little black dress with thin straps and a hemline that stops just above the knee.  Her feet are encased in black high heeled pumps and her long red hair hangs freely to just below her shoulders.

“Greetings!  Angelica Jones here, minus my sister Kayla and also minus the SCW World Tag team Championships.” She playfully frowns. “And yeah, we're kinda bummed, but that's ok, you know why?”

She grins, also playfully.

“The Shot of Adrenaline Tournament is back and that is precisely what The Sisterhood and yours truly needs right now...we need that shot of momentum to send us back on the right path and in the right direction!”

Angelica sits down on the sofa and ostensibly crosses her legs.

“They say this is the sport of kings, but that was proven to be incorrect a long time ago when the likes of Kelcey Wallace, Taylor Chase, and yes, yours truly stepped up onto the world’s stage and dominated the so-called sport of kings.  They also said that to succeed in this sport you have to be the best and you have to prove yourself to be the best.”

She shakes her head.

“That is also an incorrect statement.  I stand before you as evidence that you do not necessarily have to be the most talented wrestler to get ahead in this game.  Fighting and physical prowess is only a small factor in this sport.”

Jones taps herself on the head with her right index finger.

“If you ask me, the vast majority of what makes you successful in this sport has to do with your intelligence.  The smartest and most cerebral of athletes will get ahead while the meat-headed muscle-brained idiots will be left in the dust to flounder in irrelevancy.  That is a fact and if you do not believe me then just look back to last year’s Shot of Adrenaline Tournament, because living proof of the truth of my statements stands before you right here and now.”

The lovely Boston native spins around three-hundred sixty degrees to where she is facing the camera again.

“Me…I stand here before you as evidence, proof positive, that intelligence and a good strategy is the most important thing to have when you step into this ring.  Last year in the Shot of Adrenaline Tournament I cut through the competition like a hot knife through butter and I did it by using the rules to my advantage.  A disqualification or count out win counted just as much as a pin fall or submission win, right?  So who cares about HOW you won just so long as you won and that is exactly what I did.  I won…I won and made it to the semi-finals.  I even made our current Adrenaline Champion tap out.  Now Snow White and her dwarf may whine about how it was a draw, but that’s a technicality.  She tapped out.  Plain and simple.”

Jones shrugs her shoulders.

“So who is the favorite to win the tournament?  The favorite is the person not only with experience but with the right game plan on how to win and that is me.  Now don’t expect me to use that same strategy again.  That would be foolish.  Or then again, I just might use it in order to throw you off.  Who knows what I will do?  But the Shot of Adrenaline Tournament is all about strategy.  The competitor with the right strategy and game plan will advance and win it all while those with no strategy and no game plan whatsoever will ultimately fail.  Last year I succeeded in making it to the semi-finals.  This year, I am going to win the whole damn thing and I am going to win it because I have the right strategy.”

Angelica sighs and shakes her head.

“Not everyone knows how to use their head.  Take Jake Starr, for instance.  Jake is my first opponent in the Shot of Adrenaline Tournament.  Lately the crazy bastard has been running around with a steel chair as if it’s a security blanket swinging wildly for the fences with no real aim, rhyme, or reason behind his actions other than to attempt to remain relevant in this sport.”

A knowing smirk spreads across her face.

“How is that working out for you, Jake?  You tried to go for the tag titles and, hell, I will give you credit, you did make it to a match on the Final Level pay per view card.  But you did it by taking sides with James Evans?  You hate him.  But in a desperate move to stay relevant, you teamed with him to go after mine and Kayla’s tag titles.  And your reason behind it was just as lame.  You two were out there on Breakdown whining about not being respected.  Seriously, Jake, you and Evans were worse than a pair of women on the rag.  To top it all off, you didn’t even succeed.  You are not the tag team champions of the world.  Autumn and Gable are.  Now while the fans were blessed with what had to be a show stealing tag team match at Final Level, they were also left scratching their heads wondering what the hell was Jake Starr's point again?”

Jones shrugs again.

“No one knows why you do what you do, Jake.  I guess the real problem, though, is that you don't even know why you do what you do.  You have you security blanket, running around to anyone who will listen, trying to convince them you're relevant and if they don't listen you hit them with your security blanket.  That is who you are.  You are predictable and boring and no one gives a damn about you.”

Angelica shakes her head.

“That isn't a strategy, Jake.  Running around like some maniac, bitching and moaning, swinging a chair, is NOT a strategy.  It is NOT a game plan.  You have no strategy and you have no game plan.  You may get a win or two or three here and there as the tournament proceeds but ultimately it won't be enough to get you through.  Ultimately you will fail.  Ultimately...”

She snickers “...you are just a place holder.”

She nods her head.

“You are filler.  You are irrelevant and you are filler.  No one expects you to win.  No one expects an irrelevant pile of crap like you to do anything with this tournament.  You were not put into this Shot of Adrenaline Tournament with any expectations of winning.  You were put in hoping that you still had at least some amount of talent left to put on some good matches with the other competitors in your block but that's it.  That is the only expectation anyone in management has of you.  They expect you to put on a good show for the fans but ultimately to lose when the points are tabulated.  Your job is to show up and get your ass kicked week in and week out.”

The redhead motions to herself.

“My job, on the other hand, is to be the one who kicks your ass from one side of that arena to the other and finally, for the sake of the fans, for the sake of the SCW roster, and for the sake of anyone who has had to read or hear any of your bullshit, to shut you up...for good.”

“You see, Jake, nothing is expected of you because you are a loser.  But me?  I'm Angelica Jones and I'm a winner.  I have been in this tournament before and I came oh so close to winning it all but overconfidence got the best of me.  I have studied tape, I have done my homework, and I know my weaknesses.  I know where I screwed up.  I also know the weaknesses of my opponents and when they screw up.  I will not mess this up a second time.  This tournament belongs to me, Jake, and you are just the first obstacle in my path to victory.”

What This Means To Me

What does this SCW World Tag Team Championship mean to me?

Allow me to tell you a story.  I haven’t been in this business quite as long as my sister but I have been in this business long enough to be considered a veteran.  I have done it all from wrestling, to promoting, training new wrestlers, and now most recently managing wrestlers.  I have been a success at every step of the game and now I would dare say that I am at the top of my game, being a manager AND wrestler at the same damn time.

And a damn good wrestler at that.

No one expected me to return and be as good as I am.  Hell, I wasn’t even supposed to return at all.  No one returns after a broken freaking neck.  But I did.  I returned and I have been better than ever before.

So what does this SCW World Tag Team Championship mean to me?  It is vindication.  It is justification of everything that I know to be true and proof positive that I, Kayla Jones, am still among the best to ever lace up a pair of wrestling boots.

I have busted my ass to come back and there is no way in hell that I am giving this up!  Not until I am good and damn ready!

James Evans and Jake Starr want respect?  They can kiss my hot sexy ass!

Gable Winchester and Autumn Valentine…sorry, but you this isn’t your night.

Donovan and Simon, we promised you a rematch, and that one on one rematch is still on the table if you want it, but Final Level is not going to be your night either, because the fact is if any of you want to take these belts from The Sisterhood, you will have to kill us!

That’s what this means to me…

What does this mean to me?

I will put it real simple, simple enough so simpletons like Starr and Evans can understand what I’m saying…

I am a competitor and when I compete I compete by putting my 110% into it.  I throw everything I have at it, whether it’s a dance off, a sing off, baseball, boxing, chess, checkers, monopoly, and yes, professional wrestling, it doesn’t really matter because no matter what it is, I compete to be the absolute best in the world.

Right now The Sisterhood is the best in the world and we have the SCW World Tag Team Championships to prove it.  Losing at Final Level means we are no longer the best.

That’s what this means to me.  It’s brutally simplistic.  I have to be the best because I KNOW I am the best.  And I am going to do anything and everything within my power to make sure that Jake Starr and James Evans do not get the respect they bitch about and that they leave empty handed and without the tag titles.  I will do everything I can to make sure Autumn and Gable do not leave with the tag titles.

And sorry Standing Room Only, but you’re going to leave empty handed as well.

The Sisterhood is the best tag team in the world and we will remain that way.  That’s what this means to me.

Newark, New Jersey, specifically the Prudential Center, is going to play host for SCW’s next pay per view, The Final Level.  That is good for SCW’s reigning World Tag Team Champions, Angelica and Kayla Jones, better known as The Sisterhood.  New Jersey is close enough to Massachusetts that they can stay in their hometown up until the very last day as they get mentally and physically prepared for what will prove to be the toughest challenge to date since becoming SCW World Tag Team Champions…

…a four way tag team title match where they defend against Standing Room Only, Gable Winchester and Autumn Valentine, and Jake Starr and James Evans.

This will be a tough task for The Sisterhood and one individual who is most concerned is Kayla Jones herself.  Kayla only recently returned to the ring, siding with her older sister and almost immediately made waves within the company by picking up a few quick wins and eventually defeated Standing Room Only to become the new SCW World Tag Team Champions.

It was a proud night for Kayla, a night she will not soon forget, and winning the gold back, gold that proved to be the third set of tag titles her and Angelica have won as a team in their careers, was a proud accomplishment.  It proved to the world and to Kayla herself even that she could still get the job done in the ring.

For her it was about respect.  She earned the respect of SCW fans and SCW athletes that night.  She earned the respect of Standing Room Only and others.  There were others, however, who demanded respect in other ways.  Those others would be Jake Starr and James Evans.  They demanded respect through the use of steel chairs and now hope to demand more respect by taking the tag titles away from The Sisterhood.

Jones knows that Final Level proves to be the biggest threat to her recent string of success in SCW. She doesn’t want The Sisterhood to fail.  She doesn’t want to see her and Angelica lose these titles they fought so hard to win.

So in a match that is every bit as much about respect as it is about competition, Kayla knows that she and Angelica will have to be ready for anything.  This is why it is so convenient that Final Level is being held in Newark, New Jersey.  Angelica and Kayla can meet and  discuss their strategy in the comfort of their own home.

Which is where Kayla finds herself on this cold Boston night…parked out in front of her and Angelica’s familial home…

The younger Jones sibling walks up the walkway towards her familial home.  She is wearing a knee length black sequined skirt, black high heeled pumps, and a red floral print low-collar sleeveless blouse.  Her long red hair hangs unrestrained to shoulder length.

She makes it to the front door and stops.  Kayla knocks on the door. “Angelica!” She shouts loud enough, hoping her sister will hear. “I’m here!”

No response.  Kayla sighs and shakes her head. “Damnit, where are you?”

Kayla Jones fiddles inside of her purse only momentarily before finally finding her keys.  She thrusts the home key into the lock, turns it to unlock the door, and then opens it up, stepping in through the front door.  Once inside, and after shutting the door, Kayla listens for her sister.

“Angel!” Kayla waits for a moment and listens but gets no answer.  “I know you’re here, I see your car out front!”

After waiting again for a few moments and yet again receiving no response Kayla sighs and just walks down the hall, and immediately turns left to enter the living room.  It’s dark, which she finds strange.  Angelica normally keeps it turned on, even if she’s not in the room.  Kayla flips the switch to turn it on and immediately she gasps as she sees something she was not expecting…

“Angelica!”

Yeah, she sees her sister, dressed in a two-piece very provocative black lace panty set complete with garters that lead to fishnet stockings.  She is lying on the sofa, but she is not alone.  Lying on top of her is a male, an unidentified male, in nothing but a pair of pink boxer shorts.

“What the hell is this?!”

“What the…” both Angelica and her male counterpart sit up in shock but it’s Angelica’s eyes that go wide and her face that goes pale “…Kayla?!”

Kayla frowns and places her hands on her hips. “Did you forget I was coming over?”

“No, I didn’t!” Angelica attempts to assure her as she scrambles up off the sofa and approaches her angry younger sister cautiously. “It’s just that, I thought…”

“You thought what?”

“I thought you and Trenton were…um…”

Kayla rolls her eyes. “We were and we did.”

“Really?” Angelica cocks her head to one side.  After studying Kayla for a moment she smiles knowingly. “How was he?”

Now it’s Kayla’s turn to smirk. “None of your business.”

“Uh, ladies,” the still unidentified male smiles sheepishly “but…uh…”

“Shut up!” Angelica holds a hand up over his mouth to silence him. She remains focused on her sister Kayla. “You have to tell me, Kay. As older sister it is my right to know!”

“My love life is none of your business, Angel.” Kayla remarks.

“But Kay…” Angelica whines.

“For your information…” Kayla’s voice trails off “…we did nothing.”

“Nothing?” Angelica furrows her brow. “Nothing at all?”

“Just a nice dinner.  That’s all.”

Angelica chuckles. “You’re boring, sis.”

“Says you…”

The male swats Angelica’s hand away. “Uh, ladies, I’m still here.”

“Oh, right, sorry!” Kayla remarks quickly, regaining her focus and composure. “Um…yeah…you…”

“Me?” He asks.

“Yeah, you.” Kayla asks. “Who are you?”

“I’m Jack,” he extends a hand, offering to shake Kayla’s, but Kayla refuses it, and he sheepishly takes it back “um…I’m your sister’s boyfrie…”

“FRIEND!” Angelica quickly pipes in, interrupting Jack before he can finish his statement. “He is my good friend!”

“Friend, eh?” Kayla smirks. “You seemed like a hell of a lot more than friends to me.”

Jack looks dumbfounded and somewhat hurt by Angelica’s insistence that they were just friends.  He turns to face the elder Jones sister questioningly.

“Babe, are we ok?”

“Sure, yeah, totally.” Angelica begins to push him away, pushing him past Kayla and closer towards the door. “But my sister and I need to chat. Alone.”

“Ok, so you want me to go to another room or…”

She shoves him out into the hallway. “Alone.”

“But…”

Kayla remains in the living room, stifling laughter as she listens…listening to the front door opening…

“Angelica!” Jack pleads. “It’s cold outside!”

“You’ll be fine…”

“I need my pants!”

“Out!”

Kayla hears the door slam shut.  A few moments later Angelica returns to the living room, alone, without Jack.  Angelica looks over at Kayla smirking and frowns.

“What’s wrong?”

“You just threw your boyfriend outside.”

“He’ll be fine.” Angelica scoffs.

“It’s in the mid-thirties.”

“So?”

“He has no pants on.”

“A small detail…” Angelica’s eyes grow wide “…did I really send him outside without pants?”

Kayla bends over and picks up a pair of jeans, which apparently belonged to Jack.  She nods her head slowly.

“Yup…”

“Shit…”

Kayla tosses them to Angelica.  She catches them and quickly rushes out of the room.  Kayla again listens in intently while stifling laughter.  She hears the front door open.

“Here’s your pants.”

“Thanks…call me…”

“Sure!”

Kayla hears the door shut.  A few moments later she sees Angelica emerging back into the room.

“There.”

“Ok, now I have a few questions.”

Angelica smiles. “Oh don’t worry, I am definitely focused and ready for Final Level and our title defense and…”

“No, no, no, no,” Kayla shakes her head “not that.”

“What then?”

“I want to know how long you and your friend with no pants have been secretly doing the humpty dumpty in our familial home?”

Angelica frowns. “…you mean just tonight?”

“Yeah, just tonig…” Kayla’s eyes grow wide as she just now figures out what Angelica said “…how the fuck long has this been going on?!”

“Um…” Angelica smiles sheepishly and shrugs her shoulders “…two or three days…”

“Two or three days, sis?”

“…or maybe two or three weeks…”

“Two or three weeks?!” Kayla exclaims. “Are you freaking crazy?!”

“Kayla, can we sit down and talk about this quietly?”

Kayla sighs and nods her head as she follows Angelica back over to the sofa.  The sisters sit down and Kayla stares at her incredulously.

“Do you mind explaining Jack?”

“What is there to explain?” Angelica asks. “Jack makes me feel good about myself as a woman, something no man has been able to do since…since…”

“Since Andreas.”

Angelica nods her head slowly. “Yeah…”

“Well I can’t blame you for that.  I, too, had been searching for someone who completed me and made me feel good about myself ever since the breakup with Andreas.” Kayla smiles warmly. “But then Trenton came along.”

“So you know how I feel?”

Kayla nods her head. “Of course I do, but what worries me is Lindsey.”

“Yeah, Lindsey…” Angelica bows her head in shame “…my wife…”

“Does Lindsey know about Jack?”

Angelica shakes her head. “She hasn’t been living here since I kicked her out.  True, we have been in the process of reconciling, but we agreed not to live together again until we have fully reconciled.”

“So the answer is no, she doesn’t know about Jack.”

“Right.”

Kayla places a hand on Angelica’s shoulder. “I hate to put it bluntly like this, but you need to get your damn head in the game, sis.”

“I know.”

“Do you?” Kayla asks sternly. “You are trying to reconcile with your wife while cheating on her at the same damn time.”

Kayla shuts her eyes and shakes her head, showing complete disappointment.

“Your personal life is in complete and utter upheaval and that is going to cost us both.”

“I know this, Kayla…” Angelica says quietly as she stifles back tears “…this is difficult for me.  I just don’t know what to do.”

“You need to figure it out.” Kayla snaps back at her sister sternly. “We are the SCW World Tag Team Champions and we have a damn tough challenge ahead of us at Final Level against three good teams.”

Kayla looks her up and down, giving her a good once over. “Looking at you now, the way you are, I don’t see a world champion.  I see a whore who doesn’t know her next lay in the morning.  I see someone who could cost us both the tag titles at Final Level, and if not then, if we happen to get lucky and walk out with the gold, then not too long from now, because damnit, Angel, your mind is not where it needs to be!”

“Don’t you think I can have a personal life and a professional life separate from one another?” Angelica asks demandingly. “I know you and Trenton are super-serious about what’s best for business but I don’t have to be.”

Kayla nods her head. “I know, and I don’t mean to sound harsh, but it’s clear that with your personal life in the chaos that it is in right now, you will not be focused on anything professionally.  Your mind will be elsewhere.”

Angelica gets up off of the sofa and stands up. “Kayla…”

Kayla stands up as well. “Yes?”

“We endured as teenagers what no children should have to endure.  After that we survived being separated from one another and we eventually found each other again.  We became pro-wrestlers together.  In this industry we have walked through the gates of hell together and come out squeaky clean.  So tell me…do you trust me?”

There is a long, tense pause before Kayla finally nods her head. “Yes.”

Angelica takes her sister’s hands and squeezes them tight. “Then trust me to deal with my own personal issues.  And trust me to be ready for Final Level.”

Kayla pauses again before finally embracing her older sister with a hug. “I trust you, Angel, it’s just that…”

“What?” Angelica asks after breaking the hug a few seconds later.

“…I worry about you, sis.  You have tried so hard and have searched for so long for true love and I worry that you are throwing it all away.”

Angelica smiles warmly. “That’s sweet, sis.  But again, trust me.  I know what I’m doing.”

Kayla sighs. “I hope so.”

A golden colored plush sofa is what we when the camera begins to roll.  On either side of the sofa are tables with nice small green plants.  The sofa is up against a cream colored wall.  From stage left comes the red-headed Boston native known as Angelica Jones.  The beauty is wearing a darling cocktail dress with an asymmetrical neckline and peacock detail streaming from the strap onto the bodice.  The hemline stops just above the knee and her SCW World Tag Team Championship belt is draped over her right shoulder.  Kayla Jones comes in from the left wearing a black shimmering v-neckline cocktail dress with a hemline that stops just above the knee.  Her SCW World Tag Team Championship belt is draped over her right shoulder.

“If once you forfeit the confidence of your fellow-citizens, you can never regain their respect and esteem.” Angelica pauses after saying this. “Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States of America.”

Kayla remains cold and stone-faced emotionless as she begins to speak now.

“Respect is earned.  Lincoln knew this and he bent over backward to try and earn the respect of each and every person he interacted with.  He even bent over backward to try and maintain the respect of the southern states after becoming president, only to have them spit in his face, secede, and start the bloodiest war in American history.  But Lincoln would lead this nation through the Civil War.  Lincoln would unite this nation and end slavery.  That kind of accomplishment earned him the respect of a nation and more.  It earned him the appreciation of many generations after him, generations to this day who view him as one of the greatest presidents in American history.”

Angelica points at herself and Kayla. “Kayla and I, The Sisterhood, we fought for every ounce of respect that we have.  We didn’t do it by trashing people with chairs, taking the cowardly way out.  Jake Starr and James Evans, you two keep taking the cowardly way out.  You continue to think that assaulting people with chairs and trying to end careers will gain you respectability.”

The elder Jones shakes her head. “It’s bullshit and both of you know it.  Especially you, Starr.  Everyone says the business has passed you by.  You are late in your career.  People question whether you are relevant or not.  I’m not going to go there.  What I will say is that you and I are both veterans of this sport.  I have been around the block a few times in professional wrestling.  I was that person, that person wielding a deadly weapon trying to take out my opponents.  And I did…”

She snickers “…I ended careers, I even set some people on fire.  Nothing you do with that damn chair of yours impresses me, Jake.  If anything, it makes me wonder if you and Evans are trying to compensate for something.  I’ve done worse, far worse, and yet here I stand, telling you that I got absolutely nothing out of that kind of activity.  Nothing.  I got my respect the old fashioned way…”

Jones grins “…by winning.”

“You tried to gain respect by attacking us…attacking Simon and Donavan…by attacking Gable and Autumn?” Kayla Jones, who is speaking now, shakes her head. “It doesn’t work that way, boys and you know it.”

“Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery.” Angelica chuckles lightly after saying this. “Malcolm X.”

Kayla grins. “Just ask Standing Room Only, we have given them the respect they deserved and they returned that respect in kind.  We give Gable and Autumn the respect they deserve, especially Autumn, being a former and potentially a future Women’s Champion in SCW.  The Sisterhood, Standing Room Only, Gable and Autumn, we could have a hell of a match at Final Level, we could show the world what tag team wrestling is all about.”

Kayla points a carefully manicured finger at the camera. “You could have been a part of that.  Jake Starr and James Evans could have been a part of this grand event at Final Level, giving the world a great show, and we could really find out who the best tag team in the business is.”

“Oh but don’t worry, Kay,” Angelica chimes in “we will find out who the best tag team in the world is at Final Level, that much is confirmed, and you can be damn sure that you and I will do everything we can to make sure that we are the ones declared best in the world once all of the smoke has cleared.  But as for respect?”

Angelica sighs and shakes her head. “Unfortunately it has gone out the window thanks to Jake and James.  It isn’t just about the tag titles, it is about destroying you two bastards, it is about making you two pay for what you two have done to six great superstars in Supreme Championship Wrestling.”

“And once we’ve destroyed you,” Kayla pipes in “then the three remaining teams, we will fight it out for the fans, and for wrestling, to show the world who the best really is, but you two won’t be a factor.  You will be too busy shitting teeth out your ass after we’ve kicked them right down your throat!”

“Respect, that’s all you had to give us.” Angelica states. “Now, we’re going to give you hell.”
