Good Person

Love is a strong emotion that can make people do strange things.  Love has different effects on different people, but one thing that remains true is that love always has an impact in some way upon everyone.  Angelica Jones thought that love would not have an impact upon her but, as it would turn out, she was sadly mistaken.

The disappearance of Lindsey Carter has definitely taken its toll on the mind of Angelica Jones.  Her courtship and eventual wedding of the billionaire corporate executive Lindsey Carter was, at first, a farce.  It was a ruse perpetrated by Angelica Jones and another woman to gain control of her company, Carter Industries.  Angelica never expected that she and Lindsey would honestly fall for one another.

Yet it happened.  Not only did Angelica fall for her, she began to believe that finally, after years upon years of never getting it right, of the right person eluding her, Angelica had felt that she had finally found happiness with Lindsey Carter.  It may have been odd, it may have been unorthodox, but she was happy spending her life with Lindsey Carter.

All of that came crashing down around her when Lindsey Carter confronted Angelica about never being around.  Angelica was busy touring with Supreme Championship Wrestling or singing at a concert and never had time to spend at home with Lindsey.  This time away got Lindsey to thinking back to how the marriage got started in the first place, how it all began over a lie.  Lindsey lost faith in her marriage to Angelica and called it off.

She asked for a divorce.

It was yet another failed relationship for Angelica Jones.  And as if to pour salt in the wound, Lindsey Carter would disappear just a few weeks later and Angelica would be the first suspect.  It was a smart suspicion.  It is well known that Angelica murdered a former boyfriend.  Why wouldn’t she potentially cause another one to disappear?  Angelica, though, had nothing to do with this disappearance and, thankfully for her, the police have cleared her of the disappearance.

Still, Lindsey is gone.  Did she leave because of Angelica?  Is Angelica at fault for all of her failed relationships?  Does Angelica Jones even deserve happiness?  To answer that question she is going to seek out unlikely help in an unlikely place: Florida.

Palm Beach County, Florida is a place Angelica Jones knows all too well, and yet she hasn’t been here in quite a long time.  It’s surprising to note that, when you consider that Angelica’s wife Lindsey Carter also calls Palm Beach home.  Yes, as a married couple they did maintain property in Palm Beach County, but they never stayed down in Florida.  You can do many things to Angelica Jones but one thing you will never do is convince her to move away from Boston, Massachusetts.

Angelica’s biggest connection to Palm Beach County isn’t actually from her wife but instead from a rather unusual source.  Her sometimes friend, sometimes enemy, from another lifetime calls Palm Beach her home.  The woman’ s name is Meagan Collins and Angelica would visit with Meagan many times during the days they worked together and trained together as a part of the tag team unit known as Fame & Fortune.

Meagan Collins was the “Fortune” of Fame & Fortune due to her vast wealth.  She didn’t earn the money herself, though.  She married into it.  And throughout her wrestling career she always managed to her manipulate her way to get whatever she wanted.  Meagan wanted to eliminate her chief business rival, a woman Angelica would come to know as Lindsey Carter.

To do this, she and Angelica struck a deal; Meagan’s lawyers would secretly draw up a prenuptial agreement and take the risk that Lindsey would not read it.  The agreement being that if the marriage ended, in any way shape or form, Lindsey would forfeit all 100% of her shares of Carter Incorporated to Meagan Collins.  Thus Lindsey was forced to practically do whatever Angelica told her to do, otherwise Angelica would end the marriage herself, thus giving Meagan control of the company.   Knowing that Lindsey would do whatever was necessary to keep Angelica happy meant that Lindsey was no longer a threat to Meagan’s business ventures.

Lindsey and Angelica grew to legitimately love one another and Angelica eventually forgot all about how the marriage came to be.  But she was reminded rather harshly by Lindsey Carter when she demanded a divorce.   Now Angelica wants to revisit that incident by speaking with the mastermind herself.

It’s been quite a long time since Angelica and Meagan spoke.  The last time they did speak, they were not exactly best friends, but they weren’t enemies either.  Angelica knows full well who she is dealing when she talks to Meagan Collins.  If anything, they are acquaintances.  Nothing more.

But Angelica will make this side trip to a local gym in Palm Beach County, Florida before she makes the trip back to San Antonio, Texas for the SCW Retribution pay per view where she will team with Kayla Jones as part of The Sisterhood to face Honor Code Lite…

…at least, that’s what Kayla Jones calls the team of Shaun Cruze and Lexi Von Aaron.

This gym is a far cry from the gym Meagan used to utilize for training purposes, Angelica can tell as she exits her rental car and gets a better look at the outside of this gym.  It looks ratty and run down, dirty and in great disrepair in need of an upgrade.  Meagan Collins may not have been born into wealth but she quickly grew used to the lap of luxury.  Knowing that Meagan is here is a surprise to Angelica Jones.

Angelica was preparing for luxury, thus she is dressed in great contrast to the gym she sees before her.  Jones is wearing a form fitting sleeveless black dress with a hemline that stops just at the knee.  She stands perched atop matching black high heeled pumps and her long red hair hangs unrestrained to shoulder length.

This wasn’t exactly what she was expecting when she contacted Meagan wanting to meet with her and talk with her, but nevertheless she steps away from her vehicle and heads towards the front door of the gym.  With a feeling of determination, Jones shoves the front door open and steps inside.  There she finds it full of individuals.  Most men, a few women, but all working out and none of them are rich and wealthy.

A few men give Angelica catcalls and whistles as she steps into the gym.  She rolls her eyes.  If she had known about Meagan’s apparent fall from grace, she would’ve dressed more appropriately.  She ignores the noises and focuses on trying to find Meagan.  But then…

“Angelica!”

Jones turns her attention towards the direction of the familiar voice she just heard.  She spots a female walking towards her.  She looks far more rough and ragged than how she last left her but it is, indeed, Meagan Collins.  Her long dark hair is pulled into a ponytail in the back.  Meagan is wearing black adidas workout pants, a white t-shirt, and white tennis shoes.  She stops in front of Angelica and with a scowl on her face she places her hands on her hips.

“You no good redheaded bitch!”

Angelica tilts her head to one side, perplexed by Meagan’s rather unusual welcome.

“Something wrong?”

“Is something wrong?  You have some nerve asking me that.”

Meagan shakes her head.

“I have half a mind to…”

Meagan suddenly smirks knowingly and embraces Angelica in a tight hug.

“…hug you and kiss you!”

Ok, as if Angelica was not confused enough, she is definitely confused now.  After breaking the embrace, Meagan kisses Angelica on the cheek.  Meagan had sounded quite intense earlier but now she sounds very cheerful.

“How are you doing, Angel?”

“Uh…I’m doing fine…”

Meagan chuckles.

“Oh don’t mind me, Angel.  You know how we are, we’ve been friends, we’ve been enemies, so we can’t have our reunion without a little bit of turmoil, right?”

Jones sighs and just shrugs her shoulders.

“I guess.”

Meagan places an arm around her former friend’s shoulder.

“Walk with me, talk with me.  You got questions, I got answers!”

Angelica reluctantly follows Meagan as she leads her towards the exit.  Jones does know Meagan all too well.  She knows how manipulative she can be and she knows Meagan has her own agenda.  And yet Meagan is one of the few people outside of her sister that knows her very well.  Angelica is seeking answers and advice and perhaps, if Meagan really and truly is at the bottom of the barrel, if she truly has reached the pits of her existence, then maybe she can help this time.

The two women exit the gym, stepping just outside the front door of the gym.  Meagan turns to face Angelica and puts on that same polite smile that Angelica even now has to question if it is genuine or faked.

“So, you don’t come to see me in years, but now here you are…”

Angelica nods her head.

“Yeah, here I am.”

“…so what can I do for you?  What do you need?  I mean, let’s face it, I doubt you came here to socialize; not after what we’ve done to one another.”

“You’re right, Meagan, this isn’t me being sociable.  I come here with a purpose, a purpose you might find rather interesting especially considering your…situation.”

“What do you…”

Meagan turns and looks back at the run down, ratty gym and then turns and looks back at Angelica with a look of realization on her face.

“Oh, yeah…THAT situation.”

Meagan sighs.

“I did kind of get myself into that one.  I mean, I had it all.  I literally had it all, Angel.  I was married to a billionaire, I was a former world champion, I could have retired; but I was on a losing streak and my damnable pride couldn’t let me go out as a loser.  I had to prove I can do it when the chips were down.”

She shakes her head, chuckling.

“Now I work for Aphrodite Noel because I had to be dumb enough to agree to that damned stipulation.”

To see Meagan Collins go from tyrannical, egotistical wealthy billionaire heiress to being a humble servant of another tyrant due to losing a wrestling match is partially comforting to Angelica Jones.  It serves as a reminder that karma does exist in the world.  Yet, at the same time, it is sad to see Meagan like this.

“Well I think I have some news for you.”

“Good news?”

Angelica shrugs her shoulders.

“Depends on who you ask.  The news isn’t necessarily good for me but for you it’s great.”

Meagan arches a brow.

“Oh?”

“Remember Lindsey Carter?”

Meagan rolls her eyes.

“Yeah, her…”

She chuckles.

“…we really got her good, didn’t we?”

“Meagan, please…”

Meagan frowns as she studies Angelica skeptically.

“Wait a minute, you don’t actually feel BAD for her, do you?”

“Try to understand things from a different perspective, Meagan.”

Meagan chuckles.

“You do!  You DO feel bad for her!”

She shakes her head as she continues to laugh.

“This is great, you feel bad for her.  Why?  Did you fall in love with her?”

“Yeah, maybe I did…”

Meagan smirks.

“Love is dumb.  You know that, right?”

Angelica shakes her head.

“No, I don’t know that.  In fact, I know you’re wrong.  Everyone needs love, Meagan, even people like you who seem devoid of the emotion.”

“No, Angelica, people like me learned a long time ago that love is a pointless endeavor.  It’s all about getting what you want.”

“Well maybe I DO want love.”

Meagan grows a bit more serious.

“I don’t buy it, Angelica.  I don’t buy it because I know you.  You and me are pretty much the same person.  The only difference between you and me is that I admit who I am.  You want to pretend that you are something you are not.”

Meagan nods her head.

“Now I’ll give you one thing, you may not be The Dragon any longer.  But I do not buy into this whole ‘you are a good person’ drivel you’re selling on television.  No one who knows you buys it, either.  Or need I remind you that YOU did help me in screwing over Lindsey Carter?”

Angelica sighs and shakes her head.

“No, no need to remind me…”

“Would a good person manipulate someone into marrying them just to gain control of their business?  Really?  Answer yourself that, Angelica, and please, for me, drop the damn act.”

Angelica wanted to ask Meagan if she were a good person, but apparently she just got the answer.  Angelica sighs and then walks over to her rental car.  Meagan stares on rather puzzled as Angelica opens the door and reaches inside.  She produces paperwork which she holds out towards Meagan.

“What’s that?”

“Lindsey is gone, Meagan.”

“Huh?”

Meagan walks over to the car and snatches the paperwork out of Angelica’s hands.  She scans it quickly and then looks over at Angelica again.

“This is…”

“Yeah, control of Carter Industries, just as your lawyers said you would have if there were ever a divorce and the divorce is finalized.  We’re through.”

“Ok, but…”

“Lindsey is also missing.  And it’s all my fault.”

Meagan gasps, genuinely shocked by this turn of events.

“Angelica, I…I had no idea…I’m sorry.”

Angelica shakes her head.

“No, don’t apologize.  You were right.  I am a monster.”

It has been a few days since Angelica Jones had her meeting with Meagan Collins to notify her that Carter Incorporated was all hers.  Perhaps, with Lindsey gone and Carter Incorporated under her control, Meagan can rebuild herself and get out from under Aphrodite Noel’s thumb.  For Angelica, however, it was a failed mission.  She had hoped to find some solace and relief.  She had hoped Meagan would tell her that she was a good person, despite her feelings otherwise.  Instead Meagan told her that Angelica was just pretending.  She said Angelica was just putting on a show and should quit the charade.

Now the redhead finds herself in her hotel room in San Antonio, Texas.  Retribution is just over the horizon, the next pay per view for Supreme Championship Wrestling.  Angelica and her sister Kayla are supposed to face Shaun Cruze and Lexi Von Aaron.

The Sisterhood have been the number one contenders to the SCW World Tag Team Titles for quite some time now and they were hoping to get their title shot at Retribution but, due to AJ Helms qualifying for the Shot of Adrenaline Semi-Finals, that title shot will have to wait.

Angelica and Kayla are tired of the waiting.  The frustration has been growing with each time their one on one title opportunity has fallen through.  Now, once again, they have to wait.  Facing Cruze and Von Aaron is definitely not the match they wanted.

The frustration, combined with what Meagan Collins told Angelica, is making her wonder if she should even bother with the notions of honor that she had been striving for?  If she really isn’t a good person, then why not just do whatever is necessary to win?

Jones is awake as she lies in bed in the hotel room.  She has been awake for quite sometime now and is even dressed in denim jeans, flip flops, and a black “SCW” t-shirt.  She just doesn’t want to get out of bed and start the day yet.  She just wants to lie here and disappear…

…disappear like Lindsey Carter disappeared.

Her quiet is interrupted with a loud banging at the door.  Jones sighs and shouts as loud as she can…

“GO AWAY!”

“Like hell I am!”

The voice on the other side of the door belongs to Kayla Jones, her sister and tag team partner.  Angelica sighs as she swings her legs over the edge of the bed.  She puts her feet on the floor and stand up.  Jones walks over to the door and opens it ever so slightly, getting a peak at her sister’s face.

“Now is not the right time, sis.”

Angelica tries to shut the door but Kayla puts her foot in the doorway to stop it from shutting all the way.

“When the hell is the right time, Angelica?”

“Kayla, please…”

“No, listen…you haven’t been answering my calls or my texts.  That is unlike you.”

“I can take care of myself.  I shouldn’t have to check in with you.”

Kayla rolls her eyes.

“You know what I mean, smart ass.  Now let me in.”

Angelica sighs and opens the door.  Kayla walks right on in.  The younger Jones is wearing a maxi skirt, red colored, with a black sleeveless shirt.  She steps to the center of the hotel room and turns to face Angelica.  Kayla places her hands on her hips and frowns.

“What’s wrong with you?”

“Do you even have to ask, Kay?  You should know by now what’s wrong with me.”

She taps herself on the head.

“I’m fucked in the head!  Lucky for you, a psycho like me tends to be good in a wrestling ring, so I can pull my weight at Retribution, if that’s what you’re so damned worried about.”

“Retribution?  Angelica, I’m worried about YOU…Retribution be damned.  The tag team titles be damned.”

She places a hand on Angelica’s shoulder.

“And you’re NOT a psycho.”

Tears form in Angelica’s eyes.

“Maybe, maybe not, but I am a bad person, Kayla.  There is no denying that.”

“Who told you that?”

Angelica sighs.

“Meagan.”

Kayla also knows about Meagan Collins.  She knows her all too well.  Kayla was the first one to get Meagan into wrestling.  Meagan was originally one of Kayla’s models and Kayla introduced her to pro-wrestling.  There she met Angelica.  The rest is history.  Now Kayla wishes that she had never introduced Meagan to wrestling.

“You cannot believe a damn thing that bitch tells you!”

Kayla embraces Angelica in a tight hug.

“You are not the bad person she makes you out to be!”

“But I am!  I participated in Meagan’s plot to ruin Lindsey’s life and…”

Angelica shakes her head as she sobs.

“…and it worked!  Lindsey’s life is ruined!  Lindsey is gone…all because of me…”

I’m not going to stand here and pretend to be a good person.  I tried to break Selena Frost’s back with the Angel’s Arch and damn near did it.  Some might have considered me a hero for it, though it still wouldn’t have made it right.  But I did it anyway.  I joined with Silas Mason hoping to get a shortcut to success in SCW.  Was it the right thing to do?  No, but I did it anyway.

I have made many mistakes and God knows if I could go back in time and correct them all, I would.  But I can’t change the past.  There is no magical blue police box that will send me anywhere I want to change the past.  The past is there forever and my legacy is forever tainted by my questionable past.  All I can do now is attempt to be better going forward.

It didn’t help matters when Kayla and I whined and complained with the crazy and crappy #FreeBotswana campaign.  We whined and complained like children and what did it get us?

Nothing.

Ever since then we swore to do things the right way.  We would go on to defeat then reigning SCW World Tag Team Champions Gable Winchester and Autumn Valentine in not just one but TWO non-title matches.  We would go on to fight anyone else SCW put in our way.

Tainted Justice, one of which is the current World Champion by the way…BEAT THEM.

Team Desire…BEAT THEM.

Kayla and I have tried so hard, oh so very hard to do things the right way and I thought that, perhaps, we had earned a title shot.  But instead of giving us a one on one title shot against Winchester and Valentine, SCW put us in a clusterfuck called Tag Team Turmoil.

Then it appeared as if we would finally get our tag team title shot after Shaun Cruze and AJ Helms did the honorable thing and agreed to defend the titles against The Sisterhood.

HONORABLE thing…see what I did there?

But now once again The Sisterhood is being told that the match is changing.  Not only are we not getting a tag title shot, but we’re not even facing Honor Code.  We’re facing Shaun Cruze and Lexi Von Helmsaaron, but what do you call them, Kayla?

I call them Honor Code Lite.  They are Honor Code because that is what they are.  One may believe in Honor, that being you Shaun Cruze.  I get that you can’t control what happens with AJ.  I get it that he qualified for the Shot of Adrenaline Semi-Finals and he can’t necessarily be asked to compete multiple times.

Granted it never stopped SCW from making Blake Mason compete multiple times in one event, but being that as it may, I’d rather face Honor Code when you two are fresh and at 100%.  I don’t want there to be any excuses when we defeat you for the SCW World Tag Team Championship, just as it is with Angelica and I.  We make no excuses when we fail.  We don’t want there to be any room for excuses once a winner is determined in our tag team title match.

So to you, Shaun, I’m willing to wish you good luck.  I’m willing to say ‘may the best team win’.  With you, being a former world champion, I look forward to the challenge, a challenge that The Sisterhood has been met with before.  Only this time we hope to end it with a different result.

I hate it, that you got saddled with Lexi Von Helmsaaron, not only because I do respect you and I hate to see you in this situation, but also for mine and Angelica’s sake.  We want the best competition.  We want to face the best tag team.  The best tag team right now is Honor Code.

This is Honor Code Lite and Lexi Von Helmsaaron is the LITE of Honor Code Lite.

Instead of preparing for a pay per view tag team match of epic proportions, instead of trying to help out the best friend of your supposed boy toy, you’re busy pretending to be a princess on social media.

Here’s a piece of advice, Lexi.  The royal shtick is overdone.

“Snow Queen”

“Suicide Queen”

Give it a rest, please!  And the constant bickering on social media with your fellow SCW wrestlers, demanding that they call you a Princess or call you Lexi Helms?  It’s pathetic and it shows that you don’t give a damn about the match or helping your tag team partner Shaun Cruze.

I tried to be nice.  I tried to give you advice but clearly you’re unwilling to listen to my veteran advice.  I tried telling you that you needed to forget about AJ Helms and focus on wrestling.  Maybe then you could impress someone like him.

Maybe.

But you didn’t listen, and that’s fine.

So the gloves are off, sweetheart.

You’re handicapping your tag team partner, that’s all you’re doing.  You clearly don’t care.  That’s fine with me and Angelica because we DO care.  We are competitors who are passionate about what we do and, more than that, we are tired of waiting.

SCW tells us we have to face Honor Code Lite?  That’s fine.  We’ll do it.  We’ll DEFEAT Honor Code Lite at Retribution.  We’ll beat you and Shaun Cruze.  And then there will be no questioning that we’re deserving of a tag team title shot against the REAL best tag team in SCW.

And when we do finally get it, we’ll beat the REAL Honor Code, not the fake substitution, and become the SCW World Tag Team Champions, but not before we kick your teeth right down your throat!

BANK ON IT!  Right, Kayla?

Don’t say that, Lexi Von Helmsaaron’s buddies say that.

“Oh…”
